- Which character in the book do you most identify with and why? Which character do you find yourself to have the least in common with? Please explain your answer.
- Many people criticize this book because it is "darker" than the first. This is similar to the criticisms of the later Harry Potter book. Do you agree with this criticism? Do you think the "darkness" is necessary to continue to the adventure and drama of the series?

I think I am most like Meggie because I like adventure and going to see new places, and I have a really good connection with my dad lke Meggie has with Mo. I think I have the least in common with the Magpie, because when they talk about all the stuff she does, I want to punch her, especially when she shoots Mo! I hate her. Besides, I would never want to punch someone like myself, I also don't think i'm that mean, do you? I would never criticize this book! I think the author did a great job! I don't really think it is very dark. The Inkworld always makes me feel light and airy. Only occasionally does it make me feel dark. I don't think "darkness" is necessary to continue the series!
MOT: Good point about the connection with you Dad. You are right on there! No, you are not mean like the Magpie :) She is pure evil.
I think that i am most like meggie for the same reasons as MOT. I really like Meggie in the book because she is so adventurous. i have to say, iprobably wouldn't go to the Inkworld but i might. I think that I'm the least like the magpie or Basta. They are both sooo mean! I would never ever kill somebody or hurt someone on purpose. I don't think that i am mean to anyone( with the exception of my brother).
I mostly identify myself with Meggie because she is about my age and appreciates books the way I do. Dustfinger is least in common with me because in my view he only cares for himself and I do not.
I dont think this book is any darker than the first book; it just has a lot of action that does not result in the best way (just like the first book). There has to be a little bit of so-called darkness for a book to be interesting. The Harry Potter series is a very good example of how many readers are attracted to the darkness in a story. Too much darkness however would turn a book or story into a thriller drama.
Hey guys! i think I am most like Resa, because sometimes I am as quiet as a mouse.Even though it usually does not seem like it. I hate the Magpie! I think there is a simple thing for her to live in, IT IS A LITTLE SOMETHING I LIKE TO CALL JAIL!
What do you mean darkness? i think it expands more light than the first one did that is for sure. But everyone has their own opinion.
SMD-I guess what I mean by darkness is the fact that nothing ever seems to go right for the characters. It's like they are always taking one step forward and two steps back so they are never truly happy throughout the story.
I like the idea of jail for the Magpie. i also think that basta should go to jail! One thing that we don'y know is if there is even a jail in the inkworld! iknow about the Adderheads dungeon but the Adderhead won't put someone who works for him in his dungeon to die! It just wouldn't make sense! Hopefully you all agree with me. Mrs. B, you could ask the Inkheart group the same question you asked our group. This question being, which character do you most identify with and which one are you the least like. Anyway, we all should try to persuad different people to read Inkheart, Inkspell, and soon to be Inkdawn. These are great books and we should share them with everyone else. happy blogging!
You said Amm. Basta does seem to like Elinor though don't you think?
It would be a good thing to have a jail but I don't think that they do. They should both go to a dungeon in the Laughing Princes' castle(If he has one!) I can't believe that Meggie and Fenoglio managed to bring the Laughing Prince back to life! I also can't believe that Farid and Meggie like eachother and they even kissed!!! Meggie is being sooo brave in this story. I would feel very bad if I was Gwin and I saw JInk on Dustfinger's shoulder, I would feel like a big betrayal! My the way SMD Basta does not like Elinor at all!!! At least I don't think he does, if he did then he wouldn't have left her their without him!!!
But amm, maybe he just doesn't realize it yet.
Guys I have found the perfect quote about darkness on page 193 by Clive Barker! Here is an excerpt from it: Darkness always had its part to play. Without it, how would we know when we walked in the light? Isnt it great? Write back and tell me what you think.
I think that one of the main reasons the story is "dark" is because that's the way Fenoglio made the Inkworld. He always did like his villains best!!! I think that is what leads the story. If nothing bad ever happened it would be like the story of the littlest elf; happy and BORING!!!!
